The staggered work type is available for companies where daily scheduled working hours are fixed, but arrival time is not fixed.
The biggest difference from fixed work is that you can set an 'available check-in time range'.
Work types can only be configured by administrators who have work type and policy setting permissions.
Basic Settings
From the left menu at the bottom, go to [Settings] -> [Work Types] -> [Add Type] and select [Staggered Work].
You can enter the name of the work type and configure working days, weekly holiday, etc.
Description | Recommended Setting | |
Work Cycle Start Day | Select the start day of the week. | Usually Monday |
Working Days | The days agreed upon in the employment contract to work. | Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri |
Weekly Holiday | The day to be provided as the weekly holiday (paid holiday)
| Usually Sunday |
Check-in Time Range | Check-in time
| Usually between 9:00 AM ~ 10:00 AM
|
Working Hours | Enter the number of hours required to work per day as stated in the employment contract. | Usually 8 hours excluding lunch break (standard worker) |
Recommended Break Time |

|
If you can check in anytime between 9:00 AM ~ 10:00 AM, work for the scheduled daily hours (usually 8 hours), and have a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, you can configure the settings as shown below.
Per-Day Work Settings for Work Type
If working hours or check-in times differ by day of the week, you can use per-day settings to apply different working hours and recommended break times for each working day.
For example, you can use this if you offer a benefit of early departure by n hours every Friday, or if you have employees working reduced hours during pregnancy :)
How to Configure
How to Configure
Click the [Per-Day Settings] tab in the top right.
You can see the working hours and recommended break times set in the basic settings.
If you want to add working hours different from the basic settings, click the [Add] button on the left.Set the applicable day, working hours, and recommended break time. In the example image below, the setting means
Friday check-in is by 9:00 AM, but working hours are 6 hours, and lunch is from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM!After reviewing the settings, click [Basic Settings] in the top left again.
If you have added multiple working hour settings, be careful that the applicable days do not overlap with other added settings. When per-day settings have been added, you can see the Weekly Holiday Hours * Vacation Daily Standard Hours field. You can use this to set the weekly holiday hours and vacation daily standard hours.
What is Weekly Holiday Hours * Vacation Daily Standard Hours?
For example, this can be used if an employee only leaves early on Fridays (6 hours) but you want to provide vacation based on 8 hours! It can also be used when working hours are 6 hours due to reduced working hours during pregnancy, but you want to set vacation and weekly holiday hours to 8 hours. The daily standard hours can be provided proportionally based on working hours, or you can specify a fixed value (e.g., 8 hours) using the [Direct Input] feature. However, you cannot set vacation hours lower than the proportional amount.
Overtime Recording
The [Overtime Within Statutory Working Hours] feature allows you to set whether to distinguish between overtime within statutory working hours and general overtime. If your company does not distinguish between the two and compensates all overtime at a 1.5x rate, please disable this toggle.
Through the input settings in [Overtime Recording], you can set whether overtime is recognized in specific time units.
Input Unit Restriction
Only overtime that matches the set unit can be entered.
For example, if the overtime input unit is 30 minutes, only overtime of 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, etc. can be entered.
Real-Time Work Recording - Handling When Below Input Unit
When using real-time work recording, you can specify the behavior when overtime that does not match the set unit occurs.
With rounding up, overtime is increased; with rounding down, overtime is decreased to fit the unit.
When the handling method when overtime input unit is not met is set, you can specify the behavior during real-time clock-in/out when overtime that does not match the unit occurs.
By default, the adjusted time according to the policy is provided, and you can check what time the original time was adjusted from and to.
You can also confirm that work entries that do not comply with the policy cannot be registered when entering work in my work timeline.
Minimum Overtime Input Time
Overtime below the minimum input time is not recognized.
For example, if the minimum input time is 60 minutes, overtime of 1–59 minutes cannot be registered.
Real-Time Work Recording Feature
By enabling this feature, members can record their work through the app or the real-time work recording feature.
On-Time Check-in / Check-out Settings
Through the On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range, administrators can recognize late check-ins as on-time and early check-outs as on-time within the configured time range.
On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range
On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range
Through the On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range, administrators can recognize late check-ins as on-time and early check-outs as on-time within the configured time range.
Example based on staggered work with 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM check-in range
a. On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range [ On-Time Only ] + [ Allow early check-in before on-time check-in time OFF ] case
If the work start button is clicked before 9:00 AM, only 'On-time 9:00 AM check-in scheduled' is shown in the work widget, making 'Start Now' unavailable. From 9:01 AM, only the 'Start Now' button is shown, enabling management of late check-ins.
If recurring schedule, pre-planned work, or auto work recording is set to 10:00 AM, the 'on-time' standard becomes 10:00 AM.
b. On-Time Check-in/Check-out Recognition Range [ 10 minutes ] setting case
Until just before the last check-in time 11:00 AM, both 'Start Now' and 'Check in on time' buttons are shown together for flexible check-in, and from just after 5:50 PM, both 'End Now' and 'Check out on time' are shown together.
If recurring schedule, pre-planned work, or auto work recording is set to 10:00 AM, the 'on-time' standard becomes 10:00 AM.
On-Time Check-out Reflecting Check-in Time
On-Time Check-out Reflecting Check-in Time
Through the On-Time Check-out Reflecting Check-in Time setting, you can determine whether to reflect the check-in time when determining the on-time check-out time.
Recording Settings
You can configure the real-time work recording settings applied to members.
Allow Early Check-in Before On-Time Check-in
Allow Early Check-in Before On-Time Check-in
Through Allow Early Check-in Before On-Time Check-in, you can set whether to register a work record when checking in before the configured on-time.
Example based on staggered work with 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM check-in range
a. When Allow Early Check-in Before On-Time Check-in is disabled,
Even if a member arrives at 8:50 AM and presses [Start Work], work start is scheduled and recognized from 9:00 AM.
If recurring schedule, pre-planned work, or auto work recording is set to 10:00 AM, the 'on-time' standard becomes 10:00 AM.
b. When Allow Early Check-in Before On-Time Check-in is enabled,
If a member arrives at 8:50 AM and presses [Start Work], work proceeds as if started from 8:50 AM. If the member checks out at 6:00 PM, it may be considered 10 minutes of overtime.
If recurring schedule, pre-planned work, or auto work recording is set to 10:00 AM, the 'on-time' standard becomes 10:00 AM.
Allow Members to Record Break Time
Allow Members to Record Break Time
When Allow Members to Directly Record Break Time is enabled, members can directly record their break time in the app or on the web.
Handling When Check-out Record is Missing
Handling When Check-out Record is Missing
Through the Handling When Check-out Record is Missing setting, you can choose how to record work when there is no check-out record.
a. Auto Check-out: If work has not ended within a certain period (20 hours from when Start Work was pressed), work can be automatically recorded for the duration of [Working Hours] set in the work type.
For example, if [Working Hours] is 8 hours and a member starts work at 9:30 AM without pressing end work, the system automatically processes check-out at 6:30 PM (9 hours later, including a 1-hour break).
However, when auto check-out is processed, recommended break times are not prioritized, and a 30-minute break is inserted in the middle of work for every 4 or more hours of work.
For example, if your company's lunch break is from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and you have entered the recommended break time as such,
if a member starts work at 9:00 AM and is automatically checked out, a 1-hour break is arbitrarily inserted between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM.
b. Keep only check-in record: Only the time the member pressed Start Work is retained, and the member can enter the missing check-out time themselves. (if they have work editing permission)
Default Settings When Checking Out
Through Default Check-out Settings, you can configure the default settings for convenience features applied to members (default check-out method, work record confirmation).
Default Check-out Method
Default Check-out Method
a. Prioritize check-out at current time: The time when the member presses the button is immediately recorded.
b. Prioritize check-out at on-time check-out: Check-out is recorded based on the configured on-time standard or check-in time. However, since members can press the three-dot button when ending work to also record their actual departure time, it is not always possible to only show the on-time check-out button.
Review Today's Work Record When Checking Out
Review Today's Work Record When Checking Out
a. Always require review before checking out: Work records can be saved by confirming work after pressing check-out.
b. Skip: Work records are saved immediately upon pressing check-out. If integrated with Secom/ADT Caps, using the skip setting makes it even more convenient.
Automatic Work Recording
You can enable [Automatic Work Recording] at the bottom of the settings screen.
Enabling this feature removes the hassle of members having to enter their check-in and check-out times every day. Even if work is not recorded, the system automatically enters work records every day according to the company's check-in time and working hours.
For example, if the check-in time is set to 9:00 AM and working hours are 8 hours, enabling [Automatic Work Recording] means the flex system automatically enters work records from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Members benefit from having their hours filled in even if they forget to record, and administrators reduce the inefficiency of having to manage potentially missing work hours. This feature is typically enabled at workplaces that do not strictly manage attendance.
If the check-in time range is set to 9:00 AM ~ 10:30 AM and [Automatic Work Recording] is enabled, when members or administrators try to enter automatic work records, they can set the [Start Time Range] for automatic work recording.
Advanced Settings
Allow work records below the legally required minimum break time
When work is registered, recommended break times are also registered together.
If recommended break times are not used, or if a member attempts to record a long shift where the recommended break time is insufficient, flex automatically inserts a 30-minute break for every 4 hours of work.
However, if this setting is used, breaks will not be forcibly inserted.
Allow work records exceeding the legally maximum working hours
flex restricts work entries to the legally maximum working hours.
If this setting is used, work records exceeding 52 hours per week are possible.
FAQ
Can I manage member tardiness in the staggered work type?
Can I manage member tardiness in the staggered work type?
In the staggered work type, tardiness is determined based on the latest time in the check-in time range. For example, if the check-in time range is set to 9:00 AM ~ 10:30 AM, checking in after 10:30 AM will be considered tardy.
There are 2 ways to check for tardiness.
From the left menu, go to [Attendance Management] -> [Attendance Dashboard] -> [Tardiness] tab to view.
Go to [Work] → [Member Work] → [Report Download in the top right] → [Daily Work Hours] to download and check members' check-in and check-out times.
Using the check-in/check-out times and start/end times visible on that screen, you can interpret each day's work as follows.
02-06, 02-07: Widget and work graph times are the same
02-08: Check-in/check-out punch via widget is missing. Work graph was registered from the My Work screen
02-09: Only check-in was registered via widget. Check-out punch and work graph registration are missing
02-10: Checked in at 10:00, checked out at 6:30 PM, but the graph was corrected to 9:30 - 6:30 PM
As in case 4, the member checked in at 10:00 AM, but since the start time in the work report is 9:30 AM, you can determine that the member modified the work graph.

How does the overtime setting interact with the on-time check-out and 'default check-out method' options?
A. The 'default check-out method' option is used to first set the target check-out time, which is then adjusted to match the policy.
For example, if on-time is 7:30 PM but checking out on time generates 45 minutes of overtime, and the company policy only recognizes 30-minute increments (round down),
Check-out is attempted at 7:15 PM, reducing overtime by 15 minutes.

Is it possible to register work for just one day without conforming to the overtime settings? Is there a way to allow registration with approval?
No, a method for recording exceptional overtime with approval through approval settings is not provided.
However, when an administrator registers via 'Work Record Upload', the overtime policy does not apply. If there is overtime that must be recorded, please have the administrator register it via Excel upload.
