You can set the cycle period and visibility of goals to be used in Goals. Configure your goal management settings to match your company policy!
This setting requires the [NEW Goal Management] permission and the [Cycle Management] permission.
Goal Cycle Period Settings
What is a goal cycle?
It refers to the start and end of the period used for goals. You can customize the start and end dates for annual, semi-annual, and quarterly periods to manage goals in line with your company policy.
Even if your fiscal year differs or you manage goals on a project basis, you can freely configure cycles to match your needs.
Only members with the [Cycle Management] permission can configure the goal cycle period.
Go to [Settings] → [Cycle Period Settings] from the left menu.
Enter the start and end dates for each period — annual, first/second half of the year, and Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 — according to your company policy.
Goal Visibility Settings
Why configure goal visibility?
You can set the default visibility that will apply when members create goals. If your company policy is to manage goals privately, you can set the default to private for smooth management.
Go to [Settings] → [Goal Settings] from the left menu.
You can select the default visibility as either everyone or limited.
Visible to everyone: All members of the organization can view the goal.
Visible to limited audience: Only certain designated viewers can see the goal. The limited audience refers to goal participating members (excluding admins), the organization managers of the responsible party and participating members, and directly added individuals.
Tip! Check the visibility settings by goal type.
Goal Type | Visibility Settings | Required Visibility | Optional Visibility |
Company Goal | Visible to everyone only | - | - |
Team Goal | Visible to everyone Visible to limited audience | Organization manager of the responsible party Organization manager of participating members Participating members Organization members | Parent organization Sub-organization Directly selected members |
Individual Goal | Visible to everyone Visible to limited audience | Organization manager of the responsible party Organization manager of participating members Participating members | Organization members Directly selected members |
Goal Approval Settings
You can configure goals so that they require approval from a designated approver before being created or changed.
Previously, there was no way to control members arbitrarily creating or modifying goals, which could lead to unagreed goals being created or changes made just before evaluations going unnoticed. Now, an approval process for goal creation and modification allows designated approvers to review and authorize changes, enabling more systematic goal management.
You can configure approval to be triggered when a goal is created via [Settings] - [Goal Settings] - [Goal Approval Settings] at the bottom of the left menu.
Click the [Goal Approval Settings] - [Goal Creation] tab, then enable the [Use Approval] toggle to configure whether to use approval and who the approver is.
When [Goal Creation] approval is configured, members can see whether an approval request is triggered when creating a goal.
Members can check the approval status of created goals via [Goal Approval] in the top right of the [Goals] menu on the left.
By clicking the goal creation approval request notification, the approver can review the details of the goal created by the member and then approve or reject it.
The approver can communicate with the member who created or requested approval for the goal via comments in the [Activity Log] within the approval request document.
Goal Change Approval
You can configure approval to be triggered when a goal is changed via [Settings] - [Goal Settings] - [Goal Change] at the bottom of the left menu.
Editing goal information
If change approval is configured, approval is always required when modifying any basic goal information such as the title, responsible party, participating members, description, and visibility.
Updating goal status
If change approval is configured, approval is required when updating the goal status and metrics after the goal has reached a completed state (achieved/not achieved/canceled), to prevent arbitrary modifications to goal achievement details.
For goals that have not yet reached a completed state, goal status and metrics can be updated without a separate approval.
Deleting a goal
If change approval is configured, approval is always required when deleting a goal.
Click the [Goal Approval Settings] - [Goal Change] tab, then enable the [Use Approval] toggle to configure whether to use approval and who the approver is.
When a member edits goal information with change approval configured, approvers are shown on the right, indicating that an approval request will be sent to those approvers upon editing.
Also, when updating the status of a goal whose [Goal Progress Status] is completed (achieved/not achieved/canceled) with change approval configured, approvers are shown, indicating that an approval request will be sent to those approvers when the goal is updated.
When a member deletes a goal with change approval configured, approvers are shown, indicating that a deletion approval request will be sent to those approvers upon deletion.
Members can check the approval status of modified/updated goals via [Goal Approval] in the top right of the [Goals] menu on the left.
By clicking the goal update and deletion approval request notification, the approver can review the details of changes made by the member and then approve or reject them.
The approver can also communicate with the member who created the goal via comments in the [Activity Log] within the approval request document.
Restrictions on Editing/Deleting/Updating Goals with Pending Approval
When a goal's edit/delete/update approval is in progress, members cannot make additional edits, deletions, or updates to the goal until the approval is completed.
However, admins with goal management permissions can cancel the in-progress approval request and then proceed with any additional edits, deletions, or updates as needed.
When an edit/delete request is submitted for a goal whose progress status is in progress (on track/at risk/in danger) and the related approval is pending, members cannot make additional edits or deletions until the existing approval is completed.
Admins with goal management permissions can cancel the in-progress approval and then edit/delete the goal, even while a goal approval is pending.
When an edit/update/delete request is submitted for a goal whose progress status is completed (achieved/not achieved/canceled) and the related approval is pending, members cannot make additional edits, updates, or deletions until the existing approval is completed.
Admins with goal management permissions can cancel the in-progress status update approval and then edit/delete/update the goal, even while a status update approval is pending.
